Woman Offers 'Hail Satan' Prayer at Alaska Town Meeting

“But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come:  For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good….” (2 Timothy 3:1-3).

SOLDOTNA, Alaska — A Satanic Temple member who won the right to open a regional Alaska government meeting declared “Hail Satan” during her first invocation, prompting about a dozen officials and attendees to walk out.

According to Must Read Alaska, Iris Fontana, is an follower of an organization known as the Satanic Temple,

"Let us embrace the impulse to eat of the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil so that we may let go of comforting delusions and see the truth in the world," she continued, adding. "It is done, hail Satan. Thank you," the close the invocation, the Sacramento Bee said.

An Iris Fontana in 2014 was a psychology student at Kenai Peninsula College. She started a GoFundMe page and raised money to travel to China on an apparent learning excursion, with major donations from local civic organizations, including orders of the Eagles and Elks.

“Let’s cast aside our differences, to use reason, logic, science and compassion to create solutions for the greater good of our community,” Fontana said at the end of the invocation. “It is done. Hail Satan. Thank you.”

Several government officials and attendees walked out of the meeting. Assembly members Norm Blakeley, Paul Fischer, and borough Mayor Charlie Pierce were among those who left the assembly chambers along with some audience members.

The invocation also prompted a petition to keep "Satanic invocations" out of the assembly meetings had garnered more than 25,000 signatures as of Monday.

Supporters of satanic prayer made the trip there from places as far away as Seattle.

Vapula Lix,

Vapula Lix, a teacher at the Seattle Satanic Temple, made the trip to Alaska in support of Satan and prayer to him. She said,

“Satan to us, is a liberator, an enlightener, umm, bringer of knowledge. He represents individuality and freedom and free thought.”

Tuesday’s invocation that started the meeting of the Kenai Peninsula Borough also spurred a protest outside the southern Alaska borough’s administration building that drew 40 people, The Peninsula Clarion newspaper reported. Protesters held signs saying,

"Reject Satan and his works" and "know Jesus and his love."

“God will be pleased with our public prayers of reparation,” a man who flew from Pennsylvania for the event told KSRM radio. “We want God’s blessings on America, not Satan’s curses. Lucifer is the eternal loser. Let’s keep him out.”

In 2014, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in Town of Greece v. Galloway that prayer could continue to be a part of the opening of legislative proceedings, but legislative bodies could not discriminate against religions. That opened a loophole that Satanists across the country are exploiting.

No word on whether their ‘praise’ includes the term ‘Hellelujah’.
