"George Floyd Died For Us . . ." ASU Art Exhibit Depicts Floyd As Jesus Christ

May 24, 2024 NewsHound

It’s definitely a religion.

According to Frontlines: At the opening of a George Floyd-themed art exhibit at ASU, the “Gatekeeper of George Floyd Square” in Minneapolis makes a bold claim: George Floyd died for “each and every last one of us.”

This exhibit is a collection of protest signs from the BLM summer of love (rage actually) in 2020, including one art piece showing Floyd with a crown of thorns similar to the one Christ wore during his crucifixion.

Despite fentanyl use playing a role in his death, one activist told the small crowd that Floyd “died for us, each and every last one of us.”

Her remarks:

“It’s been a rough ride. When I came here today, I almost had an emotional breakdown because it remind me of the day that George Floyd died. Where they get you to lay the flowers at the red represent the blood, and the white represent the purification that George Floyd died for us. Each and every last one of us. Had not George Floyd died we wouldn’t be here. God chose him. He was a chosen vessel. Many are called, but few is chosen.”

George Floyd Toxicology Report.

This is elevating Floyd to some sort of divine status. You can tell a lot about a person by who their savior is. “Give us Barabbas”, they cried (Luke 23:18-25). The measure of any race are the ones they hold up as examples of their virtue, their hopes, and their aspirations. There are many such examples far more worthy, but they don’t lend themselves to bitterness, reparations and racial grift, so they are not used.

We don’t yet know if they will be creating a holy book for this new religion, or if they are writing hymns for it. No evidence of pictures of Floyd on a cross, yet, although that may be in the near future. What a mess.

We are troubled by this blasphemy (Matthew 24:23) but Jesus told us it was coming. We don’t like to see felons and drug addicts who rob pregnant women by holding a gun to their stomach running around on our American streets. We don’t like to see people die on the streets, and those who are enslaved to addiction. Like us, they need help to navigate through life. They need a Savior.

The solution to these problems is the ennobling Everlasting Gospel. Next, is order and the rule of law. All of these are needed for a civil, decent society.

Americans live in a changed country today because of 2020. Since then, every institution, from school to the office, houses of worship, the military, sports leagues and the corporate world, has been tinted with the dogmatic hue of Diversity, Inclusion, and Equity (DIE). They seek no biblical solutions, they offer no forgiveness, they have no king but wokeness.

2020

There were 574 violent riots (BLM) in 2020. This resulted in over 25 deaths, billions of dollars of property destruction to innocent individuals, and injured over two thousand police officers across our nation. Worse, people still look to Barabbas for a savior.

The answer for blasphemy is calling out to the one true God in repentance. The answer for addictions and a life of crime is the Gospel. We all need a Savior. We don’t need the false Christ of George Floyd. We need the One who said come unto me and I will give you rest. We need a Savior who is the light of the world. We need a Savior with eternal grace Who paid the price for all the horrible things we have done. We need a Savior who loves us when we are unlovable, Who stills the angry waves of rebellion in our souls, Who not only shows us the way, but who is the Way Himself. Who calls us friends in John 15, and touches us where we need it most.

The same Jesus Who healed the demoniac can heal all who come to him today (Luke 8:26-39). He can heal anyone from racism (reverse or otherwise), addictions, crime, blasphemy, and professional grifting. He can heal anything but blasphemy.

He is a wonderful Savior.

“After these things I looked, and behold, a great multitude which no one could number, of all nations, tribes, peoples, and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, with palm branches in their hands” (Revelation 7:9).
