Loma Linda Academy Invites Queer Student To Speak During Week of Prayer

Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight! (Isaiah 5:20).

On Tuesday, May 1, 2019, LLA Campus Ministries live-streamed a video from their May Week of Prayer on their Facebook Page.

The speaker at this Week of Prayer meeting was Lynelle Bathan. She is a self-identified “queer person” who is attracted to girls. I listened to this presentation. Some highlights and quotes from the video:

  • She is “proud” of her queer identity, and enjoys being a part of the LGBTQ community.

  • She claims to be a Seventh-day Adventist Church member. She is listed in the October 6, 2018 Loma Linda Filipino Church bulletin as the SS personal ministry presenter.

  • “We put our beliefs aside because relationships are far more important than making a point.” This is madnesss, mere emotional theology. Belief in the Word of God, is not about making points, but about being in a saving relationship with Jesus Christ, “which leads us to deny ungodliness and worldly lusts—that we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present culture” (Titus 2:12). A relationship that does not lead us to obey the Lord is a damaging relationship. Especially in this pagan culture around us!

  • “I’m still a part of the Church, no matter how many times the Church tries to fight me, or chooses to ignore me." I still love being a part of ministry.” None of us are part of the Body of Christ apart from repentance. Only one of the two thieves crucified alongside of Jesus will be in the Kingdom on That Day—the repentant one.

  • “At the end of it all, I’m still fully queer, regardless of all the microaggressions and the Church ignoring me.” This mindset was first seen in progressive Seventh-day Adventist women criticizing the Church for its General Conference Session decisions to not ordain women.

  • “It’s not a choice, but if it was I would still choose to be queer, because being queer is part of what makes me who I am.” Being a lesbian is not who God made you to be, rather it prevents you from honoring God with your body (1 Corinthians 6:20).

  • “I am still a child of God and no one can take that away from me.” Au contraire, the Bible teaches us that to be a child of God we must live apart from a crooked and perverse world. “That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world” (Philippians 2:15 says). Becoming a homosexual is adopting perversion; it is axiological rebellion against God’s created design for your life. And unresolved rebellion leads to unmet needs (Psalms 68:6), occult darkness (1 Samuel 15:23), and will cause God to fight against you (Isaiah 63:10). Turn from this dangerous mindset, and ask Jesus to free you.

  • This presentation was given to young impressionable High School students. The individuals in charge of this Academy will be held accountable by God one day for approving such presentations to the children of the Advent Movement. It would be far better for them if they instead brought in a speaker who showed students how to biblically resolve and renounce homosexual sin.

At the end of this abominable presentation, the large screen on the stage poses these questions for Loma Linda Academy students to ponder:

  • How has hearing Lynelle’s story affected your thoughts on the LGBT+ community?

  • How have your thoughts about the church shifted?

  • How can our church begin a helpful conversation about the LGBT+ community?

  • The slide show ends with an invitation for baptism, intentionally using a rainbow colored background.

Notice the word “shifted.” The North American Division is promoting a book on homosexuality (by non-Adventist LGBTQ advocate Bill Henson) that encourages a “posture shift” in how the SDA Church relates to the sin of homosexuality. That shift is summed up as promoting the inclusion and acceptance of LGBT+ people into our churches without requiring any kind of change. The NAD is holding meetings around the country to bring this posture shift to pastors and teachers—and through them to Seventh-day Adventist Church members everywhere. They held one of these meetings in northern California a month ago, and one at the NAD headquarters on April 20-21.

This female presenter claims several times that she has experienced marginalization, microaggressions, and discrimination. Two things. She is attempting to justify herself, and seeking sympathy.

At Fulcrum7, we sympathize with every single human heart wishing to know the One true and living God.  We believe the only way that can happen is through Jesus Christ, and His Everlasting Gospel is about repenting of sin, not celebrating it. A church, academy or person that worships moral diversity is a church that's destined to accept homosexuality because the church itself is grounded in truth, not diversity. The true remnant church always celebrates the truth, and truth requires repenting of homosexual sin, not celebrating it. We write these things to convict, not to condemn.

“From that time Jesus began to preach and to say, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand” (Matthew 4:17).
