Dennis Page was an associate pastor at the Village Church in Michigan for around eight years. In 2024, he was transferred to the Alma and Ithaca church in mid Michigan.
When the Michigan Conference decided to wage a public war against Conrad Vine, Ron Kelly and the Village SDA Church in 2024, pastor Dennis had some questions about how the Conference handled the situation. He shared those questions and concerns with the MISDA conference. They responded by threatening ‘discipline.’ You can hear Dennis’ story at the 1:25:01 mark.
Dennis’ Response
“Can two walk together, except they be agreed?” (Amos 3:3).
“After my meeting with the conference this week I began to realize the fulfillment of this verse at the end of that meeting.
I was not willing to yield to a prescribed discipline. I'm always willing to take ownership of something when I'm wrong. The church board knows this, my wife knows this, and even the conference officers know that. But I'm not willing to submit to something and be disciplined for something I'm not guilty of. At the end of that meeting I handed them my resignation.”
Observations
I met Dennis during the Jesus and Wholistic Sexuality Conference at the Village Church in 2023. I was deeply impressed with his testimony, and honesty and openness.
Dennis’ life is a testimony of the mercy and goodness of God. He was raised in a dysfunctional environment, molested at a young age, later imprisoned in federal prison, finding Jesus while at his lowest. The grace of God transformed his life, a story traced in his book A Drop of Grace. This encouraging book is available at Dennis’ website.
What we observe in the Michigan Conference offensive against the Village Church is part of a rapid shift towards centralization of power in the Seventh-day Adventist church, and we need stouthearted church members to resist this abusive agenda. Stand up against it, brothers and sisters.
Dennis has a strong sense of right and wrong, and the heavy-handed attempts of the Michigan Conference administrators to extinguish the light of truth at the Village Church are an injustice that he could not watch without standing up and speaking up. He found that when you stand for truth and principle it's going to cost you, but God will never forsake you.
Please pray for Dennis and Melody as they begin their next chapter of serving the Lord.
